The Lumiar Sorting Centre and Eco-Centre underwent major technical work to replace the weighbridge.
The work began with the deployment of a specialist technical team to dismantle the old weighbridge deck. The operation required the use of two heavy-duty cranes to safely remove the existing panels, whilst ensuring the integrity of the surrounding infrastructure.
Once dismantling was complete, the cleaning team proceeded to remove the debris accumulated in the foundation. This stage is essential to ensure the correct installation of the equipment and the longevity of the structure.
Finally, Barcelbal’s team of specialist technicians installed the new weighbridge.
The installed metal weighbridge is constructed using IP240 beams and 10 mm drop-shaped steel plates for greater safety during the movement of heavy vehicles, and has been galvanised to increase resistance to corrosion.
With a capacity of up to 80 tonnes, the new weighbridge enables greater efficiency in load control and logistics management at the centre, contributing to faster, safer and technologically up-to-date operations.
