Maintenance, calibration and verification are common processes performed on weighing equipment. However, they are different processes with different purposes. It all depends on how the scale is used!
Below, we explain the main differences between each of them. This will ensure that your weighing equipment is compliant.
Maintenance
Calibration
When you purchase a scale without verification, i.e., one that is not suitable for commercial transactions, you can request a Calibration Certificate to ensure that your scale is weighing correctly.
The certificate is requested from an authorised laboratory so that, in the event of an audit, it is valid and proves that the scale is weighing correctly.
Verification
If you intend to use your weighing equipment to carry out commercial transactions based on weight, your scale must have CE verification and be up to date with its periodic verifications.
The Meteorological Agency in your region is responsible for performing Periodic Verification on your weighing equipment. If you do not know which Meteorological Agency is responsible for your region, please refer to this article: How to perform Meteorological Verification on a scale?
